Alpesh's tour with La Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini concludes today, with a final concert including Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Verdi's La Forza del Destino, Brahms' Haydn Variations Op.56b and Beethoven's Symphony No.5.
The seven-concert tour included performances at Rocca Costanza, Pesaro (7 July) Piazzale della Rosa, Sassuolo (8 July) Reggia, Colorno (9 July) Teatro Arena di Castel San Pietro Terme (26 July) Musei di San Domenico di Forlì (27 July) Teatro Antico di Veleia (28 July) and Parco Piscina Acquablu di San Secondo Parmense (29 July).
Speaking of Alpesh's concert at Reggia, Colorno, Mauro Balestrazzi at Parma Repubblica commented: "When there is a genuine talent such as Alpesh Chauhan on the podium, an evening like this can turn into something to remember … With Chauhan there to direct it, the Toscanini Philharmonic becomes a magnificent orchestra, even with amplified sound … The result was unexpected, surprising, dramatic and seductive together with moments of authentic poetry, and a rousing finale.”
Alpesh returns to La Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini for three weeks next season, as he conducts Mozart's D Minor Piano Concerto (No. 20) with Olli Mustonen, a programme coupling Mozart and Stravinsky with Daniele Titti, and a special concert featuring new work Warum? by Sofija Gubajdulina, along with Bruckner's Symphony No. 9.
